ACTIVATED HARBOURFRONT
HarbourLoop proposes a vehicle-free route and series of ‘hubs’ to create an active pathway along Hong Kong’s harbour edge. The seamless route, and generous six-metre width, accommodate bike and pedestrian commuters as well as leisure seekers, turning the fragmented harbourfront into a real, and accessible asset.

Facilities
The series of hubs act as the anchor points along the 23km circuit. Each hub is themed, determined by their location and context. The theme defines the different components of each hub, from cafes, retail, entertainment venues and open spaces to restrooms and shower facilities. The bicycle parking towers act as physical signposts to advertise the destinations.
types of hubs
Culture
Due to the nature of their waterfront location, some of the hubs are situated next to key Hong Kong attractions. As such, these locations will be slightly larger in size and offer, accommodating more extensive dining and retail outlets as well as larger spaces to host local, cultural events.
Community
The hubs are envisioned to act in concert with the surrounding community by providing a civic focal point and venue for gatherings, celebrations and local festivals. They also provide a space for meeting and socialising, creating a community of their own.
Commuter
Designed for walking, cycling and jogging commuters, HarbourLoop needs to ensure these groups are well catered for. Commuter hubs, therefore, feature greater cycle storage facilities, additional cycle repair and retail outlets, and also enhanced changing and shower facilities to ready the commuter for their day ahead.
